African Trade Unions against the far right: experiences from the continent
“African Trade Unions against the far right: experiences from the continent” is the title of the webinar organised by the International Antifascist Trade Union Network on 30 July 2024.
The webinar will be held exclusively in English without interpretation from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
The webinar speakers:
Joel Akhator Odigie, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) Africa, who will speak on the nature and characteristics of the far right and extremism in Africa, from colonisation to military coups;
Losi Zingziswa, President of the South African trade union COSATU, who will speak about apartheid, the role of trade unions and the challenges they face today with austerity policies;
Bheki Mamba, President of the Swaziland Trade Union Congress (TUCOSWA), will address the issue of authoritarianism in Africa’s last absolute monarchy.
